SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER - EARLY INTERVENTION (B-3) AND GENERAL PRESCHOOL PROGRAMS (B-5) JOB DESCRIPTION: OPEN POSITIONS: Special Education Teachers for Early Intervention (B-3) and General Preschool Programs (B-5) A PLACE ON THE ABILIS EARLY INTERVENTION TEAM: Whether you are a rising or recent graduate or an experienced professional returning to the field after time away, or a school professional who would like to provide after-school or weekend programs to preschool children and their families - we may have a place for you on the Abilis Early Intervention team. Since 1951, Abilis has served families where the need can best be met: in the home, at our state-of-the-art therapy center, or in community-based settings, including preschools. We're expanding our programming and need professionals with a heart for children (and their families) and an eye to the future. PROGRAM ASSIGNMENT: Early Intervention (Connecticut B-3) and General Programming in homes, our Abilis Therapy Centre, and in community-based settings (Birth-5 and above). SCHEDULED WORK TIMES: Full time and part time; flexible schedule IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Director of Early Intervention MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: A relevant Master's degree from an accredited college or University. Certifications: Active Connecticut Certification (or eligible to be certified) in Comprehensive Special Education, Birth to Kindergarten, or Pre-K to 12 (Endorsements 165 or 065, 112, or 113). Special Qualifications: Successful experience working with young children who have developmental disabilities, their families, with other members of a collaborative team. Experience with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a plus (but not required). ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Ability to design and implement developmentally appropriate programming. Ability to contribute as a key member of our interdisciplinary team, which includes Speech and Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), Early Intervention Associates (EIAs), and Interpreters. Ability to work independently in homes, in-clinic, the community, and in the classroom with pre-kindergarten (and occasionally older) students and their families. Willingness to embrace the best in new technology to serve our families and document the progress they achieve. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITES: To participate in the development and implementation of the Individualized Family Service Plan (ISFP) or Individual Education Plan (IEP). Provide direct and/or consultative/coaching services to children and families at home, in the office, or in community settings, including schools. To participate in ongoing staff and in-service meetings. Act in harmony with the program policies and procedures. To maintain up to date record keeping and reporting to families and appropriate agencies. This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Abilis works in schools, civic organizations and with families in Greenwich, Stamford, Darien and throughout Fairfield County and into Westchester County in New York state.

Abilis provides employment services for adults and residential support to adults in more than a dozen homes owned by Abilis in Greenwich and Stamford, as well as to people living more independently in apartments and condominiums.
