Utility Operator


* Operation of all facility Broadcast Operations equipment and systems.
* Relief of Master Control Operators and Ingest Operators as needed covering open shifts.
* Interact with the automation software, making changes to the on air schedule when necessary to ensure continuity in the on air product.
* Monitoring of on-air networks and signals
* Has the ability to cover all operational positions
* Coordinate activities between Broadcast Operations and Live Event site during the broadcast
* Ensure accurate and error-free integration of live programming and live cut-ins by working closely with in-house and remote production staff and A.D.'s
* Liaison between departments and remotes
* Ensure that network formats are followed during live events
* Ensure elements including but not limited to billboard, sponsorship elements, scoring ticker, animated lower thirds and bug are executed properly on-air during live and non-live broadcast
* Conduct first line discrepancy investigation, troubleshooting, escalation and reporting of service interruptions
* Implements contingency plans for delays in live action, over runs, overlaps in events.
* Maintain all required logs and feed information in the systems
* Make adjustments to logs for all event replays
* Participates in operational and strategic planning, including workflow, personnel and equipment


* Must be flexible with hours due to the operational needs of the business
* Must have a minimum of three years experience in the broadcasting industry
* Individual must be able to work under pressure and meet strict job deadlines
* Must have a good working knowledge of computers and software systems
* Ability to work with short deadlines
* Must be detail oriented and be able to manage multiple events simultaneously
* Must be able to work within the team concept
* Must have reliable transportation
* Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, holidays and over time on a rotating shift basis
* Knowledge of video and audio signals
* Ability to read and understand technical operations manuals
* Able to operate broadcast equipment
* Experience with automation systems

Educational/Technical Requirements:
College degree or technical school preferred

Work Environment:
In this position, employee will be in an office environment setting with no unusual physical demands.
