This position contributes to Teavana success by ensuring quality and consistency in the tea and botanical supply and developing formulation guidance for Teavana teas. Models and acts in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles. Models and acts in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles. Summary of Key Responsibilities • Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following: • Manages tea and botanical quality by drawing product samples from bulk, tasting and evaluating flavor profile, visual appearance, packaging, weight, and performing specification analysis at different stages of testing. Determines quality and appropriate usage. • Communicates results and quality issues throughout approval process. • Provides recommendations on product quality improvements to sourcing team. • Works with Quality Assurance to identify retention samples that meet quality specifications. • Maintains cupping room. • Maintains inventory reports. • Evaluates production blends. • Consults with manufacturing to determine dispositions for tea matters such as blending decisions in manufacturing. • Updates and delivers manufacturing specifications. • Trains partners about the Teavana Tea product line and develops their understanding and appreciation of tea, including terminology, grades, growing conditions and harvesting. • Manages sugar, honey, and food quality by tasting and evaluating flavor profile and visual appearance. • Maintains cache of vendor specification sheets • Supports product inquiries and requests from SSC Quality team • Create and maintain production ecommerce labels and production reference sheets Summary of Experience Laboratory testing of food products 2 years Tasting or using other sensory stimuli 2 years Working with tea and botanicals 2 years Preparing reports 1 year Quality assurance 1 year Basic Qualifications Basic qualifications for this role are: {Determine Basic Qualifications when creating, reviewing and/or updating a role.
