We are looking for a Senior Construction Inspector for urban traffic signalization rehabilitation and upgrade projects in the southwestern CT area. The selected candidate will work on projects with construction values ranging up to $10 million. Work elements include: underground conduit and cabling, structural assemblies, cabinets, controllers, video detection, fiber optics, hardware and software upgrades to Traffic Operations Centers, maintenance of traffic and ADA HC ramp improvements.

Reporting to the Chief Inspector, the Senior Construction Inspector will perform field inspections and assist with contract administration and documentation activities when requested (in accordance with the ConnDOT Construction Manual and Municipal Manual).

The Senior Construction Inspector also:

* Supervises subordinate inspectors such that they can become more proficient and knowledgeable of construction inspection practices

* Conducts quality control tests in field for concrete, steel, or soil as applicable

* Provides field measurements and reports for payment quantities and changes in the work.

* Reads and interprets drawings and specifications

* Inspects various facets of work on the construction site

* Prepares inspection reports; may participate in the development of job safety practices

* Observes general job safety practices

* Complies with client policies and procedures for inspection of work under contract

* Performs other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

Education/Certification Required:

* High School Diploma or equivalent

* NICET Level II Certification in Transportation/Highway Construction

* OR-

* Bachelor of Science Degree (BS) in a relevant field

* A current Professional Engineer's License (P.E.) registered in the State of Connecticut

Experience/Qualifications Required:

* At least seven 7 years of experience with civil, highway or relevant traffic signalization projects, to include one (1) year of experience in field inspection

* Considerable experience related to construction materials, methods, and procedures

* Ability to maintain field and office records

* Ability to perform complex quantity and engineering computations

* Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications

* Ability to deal effectively with people

* Satisfactory written and verbal communication skills

* Knowledge and ability to help establish and maintain project records in accordance with the Volume I-IV Requirements of the ConnDOT Municipal Manual

Desired/Preferred Qualifications:

* Site Manager, Field Manager or APPIA software experience

The ability to work in the United States immediately is required.

The ideal candidate will reside within commuting distance of southwestern Connecticut, and the surrounding area. No relocation or travel expenses provided.
