Manager of Inventory Control supervises the inventory control analyst and is responsible for managing the team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. This position reports to the

Controller of the company.

Functions & Responsibilities:

* Responsible for managing all day-to- day activities with respect to all inventory control accounting including applicable inventory reserves.

* Analyze and report financial aspects of inventory.

* Maintain accurate inventory data which includes coordinating with other departments.

* Calculate and analyze customary inventory reserves including lower of cost or market, shrink, damages and mark out of stock.

* Work closely with operations staff and management to develop, fine-tune and document inventory control procedures.

* Reconcile inventory between various software systems.

* Develop and implement data analysis tools/techniques to effectively determine root cause of inventory discrepancies.

* Review, research and ensure the recording of all changes to inventory.

* Research and correct inconsistencies and/or errors when realized and work with the appropriate personnel to reduce or eliminate recurrence.

* Provide monthly management reports and analysis for inventory accuracy, top loss SKUs and an accounting of adjustments related to the Distribution Center.

* Oversee store transfers and damages.

* Support for budgeting and forecasting of inventory, reserves and components of cost of goods sold

* Develop a highly skilled and well-trained staff to ensure the efficient and effective management of all function, with the ability to support a rapid-growth company, always striving to "raise the bar".

* Develop necessary inventory-system changes as business requires.

* Oversee overall integrity of all company physical inventories (stores and Distribution Center).

* Responsible for performance of physical inventory service providers.

* Partner and coordinate with store operations, field leadership and loss prevention on store physical inventories.

* Implement and manage a process of continuous improvement for all Inventory Control processes, the organization and the support systems in order to build financial leverage and inventory accuracy throughout the chain.

* Identify and drive interdepartmental communication and process improvements in areas of the business where Inventory Control activities intersect with other departments. Examples include but are not limited to:

* Work with Retail, Distribution, IT and Finance to resolve potential day to day inventory balance issues

* Work with Loss Prevention, Distribution and Finance to identify and mitigate inventory loss issues

* Work with Distribution and Customer Care to identify and mitigate ongoing Customer Service inventory issues

* Work with Finance and Distribution to identify and correct receiving and A/P issues related to system controls


* Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration

* Advanced degree (Master's or MBA) preferred

* 4+ years retail inventory experience

* Big 4 public accounting and/or CPA certification a plus

* Proven leader with strong supervisory and team building skills

* Capable of growing beyond current role

* Prior managerial/supervisory experience

* High degree of proficiency MS Office Suite and Internet applications

* Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, and presentation skills

* Strong verbal and written communication skills

* Demonstrated collaborative skills and ability to work well within a team

* Ability to work with and influence senior management

* Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment

* Highly motivated self-starter
