Job Description:

Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits currently seeks a full time Senior SQL Server Database Administrator based at our Stamford, CT headquarters. The Senior SQL Server Database Administrator is a key role within Information Technology at Deutsch Family Wine and Spirits (DFWS). Our aggressive IT agenda is almost exclusively driven by the Company's success and strategic growth initiatives. The primary function of the Senior SQL Server Database Administrator role is to ensure the effective architecture and delivery of solutions and service at an operations level and to liaise with senior business leaders and IT partners to ensure the delivery of optimal solutions to the business units and functions in scope. As such, the role works closely with our business stakeholders and external partners to gather, analyze and translate requirements into solutions that consistently deliver value to our business. Ensuring that user capability and adoption is high is also an important part of this role. The Senior SQL Server Database Administrator reports to the Vice President of Information Technology and will act as a key member of project teams, independently developing value-added systems enhancements and responding to break-fix scenarios. The Senior SQL Server Database Administrator will work directly with Business Partners, IT Leadership and External Service Providers and actively facilitate, architect and lead solutions and corresponding delivery. Qualifications: MS SQL 2005/2008/2012/2014 Administration SSIS 2008/2012 package Design and development Must have previous experience managing VMWare hosts in an Enterprise environment (VMWARE Vsphere 5.1, and ESXi hosts) Moderate to advanced systems scripting skills, VBscipt, powershell, etc. At least one of the major industry certifications: VCP (VMware certified Professional), MCITP (Microsoft Certified IT Professional) / MCSE /MCSA Advanced knowledge of configuring, maintaining, patching and monitoring stable Enterprise Application environments along with associated and related applications and utilities/tools Planning and organizational skills necessary to prioritize and coordinate workload within a multiple project setting Proficient interpersonal skills necessary to establish and maintain effective working relationships Proficient verbal and written communication skills. Must have excellent communication skills. Work well with team members - internal and external Strong trouble-shooting and performance tuning skills Self-motivated individual willing to take ownership of issues and work to resolution Demonstrates leading edge knowledge of concepts and theories in own discipline Perceived internally and externally as expert in the function. Teaches others the technical and functional knowledge and skills needed to achieve results at the optimum level of performance. BS in Information Technology or a related technical field or 2 Additional years of relevant work experience 6 years of experience as a systems administrator Responsibilities: Strong experience in Database Administration in SQL Server (2008 R2, 2012, 2014, etc.) Installation and upgrade of SQL Server instances in mirrored or clustered environment Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database integrity issues, performance issues, blocking and deadlocking issues, replication issues, mirroring issues, log shipping issues, connectivity issues, security issues etc. Experience with implementing database mirroring Experience with implementing SQL Server clustering Experience in creating DB partitions, Performance Tuning, Query Optimization, using Performance Monitor, SQL Profiler and other related monitoring and troubleshooting tools Ability to detect and troubleshoot SQL Server related CPU, memory, I/O, disk space and other resource contention Strong knowledge of backups, restores, recovery models, database shrink operations, DBCC commands, Clustering, Database mirroring, Replication Strong knowledge of how indexes, index management, integrity checks, configuration, patching; how statistics work, how indexes are stored, how they can be created and managed effectively SQL Development - ability to write and troubleshoot SQL Code, SSIS Packages and design (stored procedures, functions, tables, views, triggers, indexes, constraints) Solid acquaintance with Windows server, security delegation, SPNs, storage components Documentation skills for processes and procedures (creating KBs, run books, topology, etc.) Manages the day-to-day operations of enterprise infrastructure systems by monitoring system performance, configuration, maintenance and repair Performs advanced troubleshooting as required. As such, leads problem-solving efforts often involving outside vendors and other support personnel and/or organizations. Establishes guidelines and methods for the installation and management of the operating systems, disk arrays, fiber channel switches, SAN equipment and administration, and other components Ensures high availability and acceptable levels of performance of mission critical Infrastructure systems resources Develops procedures to maintain security and protect systems from unauthorized use, acts of nature and user abuse Develops procedures, programs and documentation for backup and restoration of Infrastructure systems and host-based applications Stays current with technological developments in systems administration technology and recommends ways for the infrastructure team to take advantage of new technology This senior position will perform all of the responsibilities above and other related duties as assigned.
