Job Description:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university, preferably with course work in education planning, social work, or business management. Certification as an Activities Professional preferred. Physical Requirements: This position demands good physical and mental health. The Manager may be required to physically assist program participants The Manager must be able to sit, stand, bend, walk and carry things associated with the activity program. Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds. Experience: A minimum of three years of successful supervisory experience and development and implementation of individual programs for people with disabilities and/or experience working in social services with the developmentally disabled population GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The Manager is responsible for the planning, implementation, supervision and evaluation of the Activities program designed to meet the social, psycho-social and therapeutic needs of the Abilis community. Programs are designed to encourage socialization, provide entertainment, relaxation, and fulfillment, and improve daily living skills. Programs will serve the full spectrum of Abilis' population - youth, pre-teen, teen, young adults, adults, and seniors with an emphasis on programs appropriate for each age cohort. KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY: Plans, schedules and directs development of activities program to meet the social, recreational, and psycho-social needs of people we serve and the wider community. Develops relationships with various constituencies to promote and expand scope of Abilis' social/recreational program. Promotes events and schedule in the wider community Schedules events. Manages and updates the on-line social-recreational calendar of events; processes registrations and coordinates payment receipt and recording with the Finance Department. Oversees all procedures of an event to the actual launch, including coordination of facilities and equipment.
