Description:About the Opportunity

As a Principal Full Stack Developer / Architect / Lead Developer you will be part of the team that designs and implements SaaS Common Services as part of the Pitney Bowes Commerce Cloud Platform. Our Commerce Cloud Platform team is growing; and you will have a direct impact on the design and development of the Pitney Bowes rapidly expanding SaaS application portfolio.

In this role, you'll join our global eCommerce team in Danbury, CT and report to Director of SaaS Platform Strategy.You will be responsible for\:

  • Works across teams to develop scalable, robust and high performing SaaS common services that collectively comprise the Pitney Bowes Commerce Cloud Platform
  • Partners with technical and product teams to define and execute clear SaaS/PaaS common services platform strategies by working with product teams to deliver and deploy SaaS services into production
  • Develops technical partnerships and technical expertise with leading SaaS technology vendors such as AWS and others
  • Collaborates with Developers, Architects, UX, Product Owners and Test Engineers in an agile organization


  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or other technical discipline required with 5+ years developing high performance java web applications. This is a hands-on highly technical role.
  • Primary responsibilities are to design, develop and deploy Java Spring micro services into an Amazon Web Services environment. As such the successful candidate must, at a minimum, be current on and have current project responsibilities using Spring annotation driven development with an emphasis on Spring Data other key modules are\:

    • Spring security
    • SpringBoot application creation and configuration
    • Spring data including design, implementation and testing.
    • Spring workflow tools such as Quartz.
    • Unit test, integration test and end-to-end test of all modules.

  • The successful candidate must have extensive experience with both SQL and No SQL databases including implementation and optimization (DBA experience is a plus but not critical for this position).
  • The build orchestrator is Jenkins, so you need to be comfortable with creating and maintaining Jenkins services.
  • The successful candidate should be comfortable using both Gradle and Maven to manage build and test.
  • The successful candidate must be comfortable creating, securing and deploying Docker images into Elastic Beanstalk or Elastic Container Repository/Services.
  • This is a senior level technical position and the successful candidate will be required to do code reviews for peers and for junior engineers as well as to critique ORM designs for correctness, security and scalability.
  • The successful candidate would benefit from knowing Angular and supporting tools such as Gulp, Compass and so on.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with diverse and distributed product teams. Experience developing software using Agile Software Development practices such as Scrum, TDD, minimum viable product. Pair programming experience a plus.
