Job Description:

Medical Sales Director Salary - Base plus commission, etc. The Director of Sales is responsible for obtaining new business for the company. This person works within all phases of the selling cycle from initial prospecting through ongoing account management. This person will identify and develop new customers. Will focus primarily on prospective rather than current customers. Will call on VPs and Directors of R&D, Purchasing Directors and anyone involved in the decision to outsource the development and manufacturing of their medical devices and consumer products. He will also monitor new technologies, customers, and industry trends. This person's emphasis will be on increasing sales, participating in development of the sales strategy, and achievement of subsequent sales goals and annual objectives. The Director of Sales will work closely with the President and senior management. This position includes interfacing with clients, making sales presentations, proposal writing, business development and contract negotiation. The Director of Sales reports to the President, and is responsible for building sales and expanding the company identity and presence nationally. Achieve annual sales quotas. Establish, develop and maintain contacts with new customers through a variety of communication methods, including sales calls, personal meetings at tradeshows, email, telephone, and mail. Ask for referrals from potential clients. Identify regional leads, to make sales calls efficient. Understand client project competitive landscape, project requirements and hurdles, and reflect these items in proposals. Act as a project and business liaison with the client. Identify needs and demonstrate a compelling solution through customized presentations. Close sales in new and existing accounts. Identify and pursue target accounts. Develop strategy for assigned accounts Education and Training A minimum of a four year college degree in engineering or science is required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong presentation and persuasion skills. 5+ years of experience selling to the medical device industry or consumer products. Proven track record of sales success Working knowledge of medical product development, pre-clinical testing, design for manufacturing, and pilot manufacturing within the medical device and surgical instrumentation industry. Familiarity with the most current FDA regulations and international standards for medical device design control and manufacturing. Working knowledge of new and existing medical procedures and clinical requirements, as they relate to client product development projects Exceptional interpersonal, communication and customer interface skills Capable of professional growth and taking on additional responsibility as the company succeeds in their mission and goals to double its size. Sales Experience A minimum of 5 years sales experience in a medical device environment.
