Job Description:

The Corporate Finance Department at XL Catlin is seeking an Investment Analyst to be responsible for the detailed analysis and budgeting of investment earnings and other-than-temporary impairment analysis of the investment portfolio.What will your essential responsibilities include?Responsible for the production of the annual budget, strategic plan, quarterly variance analysis and presentation to senior management.Responsible for the production of monthly and quarterly investment reports for senior management and the development of ad-hoc reports when required.Review, analyze and oversee the record-keeping of investment related fees and expenses.Assist with the migration of current reports and development of new reports with the Data Distribution team.Responsible for the other-than-temporary impairment analysis of the investment portfolio which requires liaising with the investment managersLiaising with internal and external auditors in relation to internal controls relating to assigned responsibilities.Other duties that may be assigned You will report to the Vice President, Global Investment Accounting and Reporting. We're looking for someone who has these abilities and skills: Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Finance or Accounting.Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting, with at least two years of experience in an investment related services industry.Actively pursuing CPA or equivalent.CFA or actively pursuing CFA designation (would be an advantage).Proven experience in investment reporting.Proven understanding of capital markets and investment process.Excellent organizational and analytical skills are a must.Experience using Microsoft Applications and Bloomberg.Experience with Blackrock/Aladdin, Eagle PACE, SS&C/Camra and Cognos would be an advantage.Ability to clearly identify issues and create best practice solutions.Highly organized with the ability to multi-task and prioritize work load.Must have strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.Proven ability to work independently and within a team environment.
