Abilis (ABLE-ISS) is a non-profit organization that provides services and supports for over 700 individuals with special needs and their families from birth through the life span. Abilis has been a leader in serving the special needs community in lower Fairfield County for 65 years and has a long-standing reputation for high quality care.

Abilis is looking for a Pediatric licensed Occupational Therapist to provide direct and consultative services to young children and their families in our early intervention program for children with developmental disabilities You will work with, and coach families providing strategies to foster  fine motor, feeding and sensory skill development. 

FULL TIME – FLEXIBLE SCHEDULE – WEEKDAYS WITH OR WITHOUT SATURDAY SCHEDULE AVAILABLE OR

PART TIME – FLEXIBLE SCHEDULE – WEEKDAYS WITH OR WITHOUT SATURDAY SCHEDULE AVAILABLE

Responsibilities:

Home/community visitation with infants and toddlers and their families

Assist families with development and implementation of strategies to enhance the fine motor development, feeding and sensory processing concerns of their child.

Conduct ongoing developmental screenings and/or eligibility evaluations

Assist child with transition to preschool programming

 Work in transdisciplinary team of Early Childhood professionals

Develop and implement individualized IFSP goals and objectives aiming to promote communicate skills within a team dynamic.

Complete required paperwork, case notes and reports as needed

  Requirements:

Regular and consistent attendance is considered an essential function of this position, ability to work flexible hours

Three years’ experience providing pediatric occupational therapy services preferred but not required

Experience in working with children with disabilities

Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program

Successful completion of the National Board Certification Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) certification examination for Occupational Therapist, registered
